Theater Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil
Sundrax supplied a complete DMX network system, which included nearly 20 DMX splitters and Ethernet-DMX nodes, to the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB) theater. CCBB is one of Brazil's most renowned cultural institutions and is ranked among the top 25 most-visited art museums in the world. The system was designed to provide flawless and fail-safe DMX signal transmission.
We would like to extend our gratitude to our valued partners and distributors in Brazil, Paiol da Luz, and especially to Rogério Couto, who was the project manager.
For more than 30 years, Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil has been a hub for cultural exchange, welcoming millions of visitors. Its flexible and precisely tuned lighting system enhances the unique space, providing audiences with a first-rate visual experience.
Equipment Used
ArtGate Pro
The ArtGate is an Ethernet-to-DMX converter with data merging and redundancy functions. It supports a wide range of protocols, including DMX512, RDM, all versions of ArtNet and sACN, KiNet, and RTTrPL, which ensures flexibility when integrating with various lighting control systems.
Key features of the professional Art-Net/sACN to DMX converter:
● RDM, device feedback, and remote control. A toggle switch is available to disable RDM for compatibility with older equipment.
● Profile saving for optimal configurations, allowing for quick project setup without the need for repetitive adjustments.
● Trigger support includes two inputs for integration with security and external event systems. This feature improves both the safety and efficiency of operations at the CCBB, assisting with everything from emergency evacuations to routine tasks.
● Robust design—the DMX node is fanless, which prevents the ingress of dust and moisture.
● Port protection—depending on project specifications, the ArtGate can be configured with either 4 or 8 DMX ports. Each port features galvanic isolation to protect connected equipment from voltage spikes.
The ArtGate offers dual power redundancy, operating on 110–250 V AC mains power or via PoE.
Two Ethernet ports enable device cascading, simplifying network expansion and providing redundancy.
The device is built with a durable metal enclosure (1.2 kg, 11 cm, 1U) and has an IP20 rating.
Splitter Pro
In the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil project, the DMX splitter is a device that connects to the converter. Similar to the professional converter, the splitter provides data redundancy and features galvanically isolated ports. It also supports RDM and is 1U rack-mountable, which enhances the stability and usability of a lighting control system, even when using only Sundrax splitters.
The splitter isolates the main DMX line by creating separate branches for connecting additional groups of lighting fixtures. On each new branch, the DMX signal is duplicated and boosted to ensure stable data transmission throughout the network. The splitter distributes the signal from one or three inputs to five, eight, or ten outputs. It uses either 3-pin or 5-pin XLR connectors, or EtherCON connectors, and is powered by a 110/220 V AC mains supply. The device is designed for 1U rack mounting.
